Worked your butt all day long with client meetings, phone calls, follow ups and the such. It was a good day but a long busy day and 3:30 rolls around with a text or IM from the husband wondering what is on the agenda for the evening. You really don’t have any plans except for the dreaded time to make dinner. So on your way home you give the husband a call and ask the following question: “What do you want for dinner?” this is followed by an answer similar to: “I don’t know, what is there to eat?” UGH!!! Worst (almost-daily) conversation ever. Lucky for me (and now for you) I have a new option for dinner, the Fresh Pack Wall from Whole Foods Mason that is stacked with “grab-N-go” meals or sides for lunch and dinner.
The Cincy Tastecasting team was invited by Paula Mangold, Makreting Specialist and Community Liaison from Whole Foods Market in Mason, Ohio. Paula and Zach (our chef) were amazing! They welcomed us in the little cafe’ section of WFM in Mason with table cloths, bottles of water, and our very own Sheryl Crow designed Whole Foods reusable bag. The menu for the evening would be a sampling from the new fresh pack wall which is now located in the back left of the store near the “deli” section. Our menu looked like this”
Roasted Vegetale Gazpacho Soup – $5.99/each for a quart
This was similar to a chunky tomato soup but it was cold, def. something to eat in the summer and was a great start to an entree for a meal. This had a natural kick from the chives, onions and celery mixed with the tomato soup. Overall this had a great flavor, just wasn’t expecting the cold soup – I like my “soups” hot!
Black Bean & Cheese Burrito – $5.99/each for a 1lb (huge) burrito
Y-U-M-M-Y! Oh my goodness, this just had the best flavor and would be great for the picky Hubs in your life. I know that mine is most likely the pickiest husband ever and he would have loved this burrito. Seriously simple, just grab this black beans and cheese wrapped in a crisp tortilla from WFM and pop in oven for about 10 minutes. You might consider buying just one since they are about 1lb and compliment it with another simple side, perhaps gazpacho soup?
Spring Vegetable & Broccoli Cheddar Quiche – $2.99/ slice or $9.99/ pie
I typically enjoy broccoli and cheddar combos but I have to say I loved the spring vegetable quiche much more. I loved the celery, carrot, and red pepper combo mixed with cheddar cheese and egg. You could grab this for a Sunday brunch or bring home the breakfast for dinner as a suprise meal. One other flavor we didn’t taste but now I have to go back for is the Margarita quiche, doesn’t that sound delish?
Vegan Nuggets (Curried, BBQ & General Tso’s) $9.99/ lb
Wow……never in a million years did I think I would be eating texturized vegetable protein nuggets. Are you kidding me? These bad boys contained zero meat and were very “chicken-esque” and I overheard Paula say that the calorie count wasn’t too high either (can’t say that for the burrito). Three flavors that we tasted were the Curry, BBQ and General Tso. All were flavorful but I have to say I like the curry flavor best. All marinades are made at your local WFM so check out what flavors they offer. Maybe a good trick would be to purchase these and don’t tell your fam. that they aren’t chicken and see what happens! hehehe!
Dessert Bar Samples $1.99 per bar:
We had the chance to taste each bar with bite-size samples, what a great way to end our Whole Foods Market menu. My favorite bar was the Chocolate chip Cheesecake bar and my least favorite was the Lemon Curd Bar. I thought the Lemon Curd bar was a bit too tart for me and very jelly-like but others around me loved that bar. The bars are a good size for an individual but they are so rich that I would buy one to share with the hubs or buy two to share with the whole family.
